Evergreen, coniferous tree with almost horizontal branches, forming a broad, irregular pyramid shaped crown. Its foliage is dark green and its fruits are nearly spherical, woody cones 2 – 3 cm in diameter. Flowers appear during the period March to May. Forms forest stands on limestone slopes and crevices.
