ABOUT Sylvia curruca

A passing migrant (spring: March – May, autumn: end of August – October) in large numbers through Cyprus and the Akamas. It is observed in a wide variety of habitats during migration, as long as there are trees and bushes for cover.

It moves through bushes and tree foliage looking for food which is mainly insects and caterpillars. It is a small species of the Sylvidae family, with a grey-brown back, grey head (becoming a little darker at the point behind the eye), white throat, ‘dirty’ white-beige underparts. Its legs and bill are black.
