ABOUT Egretta garzetta

A passing migrant especially for the Akamas peninsula in spring (March – April) and autumn (end of August – September). A population overwinters in Cyprus, while few individuals breed in few sites on the island.

It’s usually seen in small or relatively big groups, flying over the open sea, usually following the coastline. It uses some spots on the coastline to rest or roost during its trip.

It’s a medium sized heron species with characteristic features the white color, the black bill, the black legs with yellow feet.
